“I think many people are hoping to see the possibility of a reduced or even no stay-home notice when you travel abroad and come back, but we have not confirmed these yet. We are still working through them, and when we are ready, we will share what these guidelines are for vaccinated persons.”
- Mr. Lawrence Wong, Education Minister (The Straits Times)
As we are still waiting for these travel guidelines to be announced and shared by the government, let’s take a look at the list of countries that are going to or have been opening their borders to welcome vaccinated travellers:
1. Phuket
Starting from 1st July, tourists who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 are allowed to travel to Phuket. They will not be required to serve a quarantine there.
2. Seychelles
Since 14th January, Seychelles has allowed travellers to enter its territory as long as they have completed a full Covid-19 vaccination at least two weeks before their arrival. They also need to show a negative Covid-19 test that has been taken 72 hours before their flight.
3. Iceland
Iceland has welcomed travellers who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 since 18th March this year. They are not required to be quarantined or to do any testing. However, the vaccine has to be certified for use by the European Medicines Agency which includes Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.
4. Ecuador - South America
Ecuador has also allowed travellers to enter the country provided that they have taken full Covid-19 vaccination. If they have not been vaccinated, they will need to show a negative Covid-19 PCR or antigen test taken not more than three days prior to them arriving in Ecuador. Remember to wear a mask and not to gather in groups of more than 10 here!
5. Estonia
Estonia has allowed those that have been completely vaccinated to enter the country since 2nd February. If they have not, they need to be quarantined for 10 days and tested for the Covid-19 test. The vaccinated travellers also have to follow the safety protocols there.
6. Slovenia
To enter Slovenia, travellers need to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination taken at least seven days before their flight. Singapore does not fall under their 'red lists' of countries to be taken more precautions.
7. Georgia
Between Eastern Europe and western Asia
Fully vaccinated tourists have been allowed to enter the country since 1st February this year, by presenting the evidence of the vaccination.
8. Guatemala
A country south of Mexico
Since 24th February, Guatemala has allowed travellers to enter provided they have shown proof of the vaccination taken at least 2 weeks before their arrival. They also can present a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of their arrival.
9. Belize
Central American Country
Travellers will have to show evidence that they have been fully vaccinated. As for those who have not been vaccinated, they need to show a negative Covid-19 test taken within 96 hours before the flight.
