Kulon offers Indonesian Bakmi in Bali Lane, Singapore!
In their attempts to bring Javanese flavours to Singapore, a mother and son have opened a restaurant that offers authentic Indonesian comfort food in Bali Lane, right beside the famous ‘Haji Lane’.

What is ‘Bakmi’ ?
‘Bakmi’ is a seasoned Indonesian dry noodle. ‘Bak’ means meat and ‘mi’ means noodle. It resembles a wanton noodle, but with a Javanese twist to it. In addition to Indonesian dry noodles, they serve rice as well.
The dishes we tried during our visit were Bakmi Komplit ($13.80) and Bakmi Bangka ($8.20). Of course, we paired them with Teh Botol Sosro ($2.50), a popular sweetened tea in Indonesia. Both dishes give such a sweet and savoury taste. Their yellow noodles are thicker and heavier than the normal wanton noodles or instant noodles.

Bakmi Komplit consists of seasoned Indonesian dry noodle with toppings such as braised sweet soy sauce chicken, beef balls, marinated egg, blanched bak choy and fried dumpling skins. In comparison, Bakmi Bangka consists of seasoned Indonesian dry noodle with toppings such as braised sweet soy sauce chicken and blanched bak choy.
Kulon is Muslim-owned and definitely halal! Give it a try while you are around the Bugis area!
