What is Discord?

Discord is a community chat app/program on iOS, Android, and PC platforms. Unlike other apps that are trending for a while and go into oblivion, Discord is estimated to be worth over $10 billion and considered as the largest messaging app in the world. People from all walks of life, especially the new age of youths and gamers mostly use it.

In Discord, there are bots (user-written programs hosted to provide various services/functions). Unfortunately, one of the well-known bots, Groovy, which pulls music for its user directly from YouTube, just got shut down.

Groovy serves as a tool to insert background music into a chat room.

I want to thank each and every one of you for using Groovy. You all had a part in shaping it into what it is today. I hope you all have a wonderful day and remember: stay groovy.

- Nik Ammerlaan, the creator of Groovy

While it is sad to see a service widely loved by many being removed from part of the communities' life, what remains to come from online innovators and Google might steer the internet of messaging communication into other future directions.
