It was first started with a question in mind.
Phebe Tan mentioned that the creation of ‘Borne Desk’ was first started with a question in mind - How to design a piece of functional furniture that is adaptable and able to fulfill the lifetime needs of a contemporary family in terms of studying and working?
‘Borne Desk’ is birthed from the concept of bringing family members together through the process of studying and working. Relevant research methods such as home visits and interviews with young families have been conducted as part of its design process in order to understand more about the activities and needs of parents and their kids.

‘Borne desk’ has been designed with a dual function!
Due to the rising concern of having small living spaces in Singapore, it is understood that having to separate your workspace and your children’s studying room has become a luxury. Besides, you would not want to risk missing a moment with your children while they are growing up. Thus, ‘Borne desk’ has been designed with a dual function and can be conveniently placed in your living room or any spaces in your home.

It is not only functional but also relational as it focuses on forging a closer family bond between the users, bringing two different activities together such as studying and working.
With ‘Borne Desk’, parents who are working from home could work at ease while looking after their children at the same time. ‘Borne Desk’ allows you to do your own things while your children are doing their activities right beside you. Thus, as a parent, you will be able to experience every second of your children’s growth by having them in your presence most of the time. You can comfortably work alongside your child who is doing his/her art and craft, learning how to write alphabets, watching cartoons on Youtube, etc.
