CC: Could you tell us more about Chiropractic?
Dr. Kenny: Chiropractic focuses on treating both chronic and acute conditions of the musculoskeletal system. We focus on the body as a whole and focus on treating the root cause of the problems, as opposed to managing the symptoms.
CC: Who are the people that would require Chiropractic care and when do we need to consider having this treatment?
Dr. Kenny: Chiropractic care is suitable for everyone; we see a diverse demographic ranging from young children to the elderly. Each stage of life comes with its problems. For example, adolescents require scoliosis check-ups, teenagers with slipped disc issues, working adults with repetitive stress injuries (prolonged sitting), and the elderly with general wear and tear. In saying this, we also see many people who undertake preventative care, ensuring the body functions as optimally as possible with minimal problems.

CC: What are the common misconceptions people often have regarding Chiropractic or when it comes to their mindsets on certain health conditions?
Dr. Kenny: The most common misconception I generally see in the clinic is that wherever the pain is, my problem is. The body has what we call referral pain, so figuring out where the problem is coming from is half the work done. For example, a low back slipped disc creates leg numbness/pulling; massaging your legs won't resolve that problem, releasing the nerve compression in the low back will.
CC: Tell us more about what leads you to focus on Chiropractic and start your clinic, "Live Well Chiropractic"?
Dr. Kenny: I had a slipped disc myself at the age of 21 and was suffering from a terrible bout of back pain for the longest time. No one could really figure out what it was until I stumbled upon a chiropractor, lo and behold, my problem resolved in a few short months under his care, and that's when I decided to pursue Chiropractic. I always wanted to do my own practice, practicing the way I want, ethically and with the patient's best interest in mind.

CC: What are the treatments/services that Live Well Chiropractic is offering? May you elaborate more about each treatment/service that is being offered at your clinic?
Dr. Kenny: We offer chiropractic adjustments to improve motion and function of joints; Decompression therapy for all your nerve referral/pre-surgery cases; and functional rehabilitation to help build a stronger and more functional body for yourself to ensure long-term results.

CC: How does the process of getting the treatments here work?
Dr. Kenny: Just like any other medical profession, we diagnose the problem first and foremost. We listen to your goals and what you want to achieve from the treatment. Ultimately, we recommend what we think is most suitable for your particular case.
CC: How long do the patients need to take the treatment until they can see significant improvement in their health conditions? (On an average/case-by-case basis)
Dr. Kenny: Generally, patients feel better within the first few adjustments; more serious/chronic cases generally take more time. So morale there is not to wait too long in pain before getting treatment. You’d be surprised at how many people I see managing pain themselves for 5-10 years before coming in to see us.

CC: Certain health conditions can be treated with more than one medical treatment approach. So, what makes the treatment at Live Well Chiropractic different from other medical treatments out there?
Dr. Kenny: Different people adapt to different modalities and treatments better. There's a lot of variable factors that come into this. For example, sometimes patients are sceptical and hence when it comes to compliance for rehabilitation and treatment, the ball falls short. So I’ve always believed that finding a health practitioner you can trust and communicate well with is the most important. Physiotherapy, TCM, Tuina are all great treatment methods for a range of problems, do whatever works for you and what you're comfortable with.
CC: In what cases should we choose Chiropractic care as our treatment option to improve our medical conditions?
Dr. Kenny: You can seek chiropractic for pretty much anything musculoskeletal based, so anything relating to muscles, bones and nerves.

CC: Are there any advice or healthcare tips you would like to share with our readers to have a healthy lifestyle?
Dr. Kenny: Two words, stay active! Your body is built to move. So the lesser you move, the more problems you will have. Think of it as a car... a car that’s not driven for a long time will develop way more problems than a car that’s driven and well-maintained.
